About Stacey Nguyen
Principal Communications & Engagement
Stacey Nguyen brings a unique, multidisciplinary lens to Heritage Workshop, built on over 15 years of experience spanning all levels of government. As Principal of Communications and Engagement, she specialises in translating complex heritage and planning policy into meaningful community dialogue.

Her approach is highly strategic and risk-focussed. Stacey provides high-level counsel to proactively mitigate reputational and political risk for sensitive built-environment projects, helping clients navigate dynamic policy environments and manage complex community consultations.

Before joining Heritage Workshop, Stacey’s career was defined by the high-pressure intersection of political strategy, evidence-based policy, and departmental operations. She has worked extensively across the Australian and Victorian Governments, serving in senior roles including Acting Chief of Staff, Senior Ministerial Adviser, Media Adviser, and Senior Departmental Liaison Officer.

She successfully navigated high-stakes portfolios including Police, Water, Emergency Services, Bushfire Recovery, COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria, the Attorney-General, and Workplace Safety. Crucially for Heritage Workshop clients, she draws on unique strategic insights from her tenure in the Office of the Minister for Planning and Outdoor Recreation, as well as technical legal policy roles within the Department of Justice and Community Safety and the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

Stacey combines this practical operational expertise with a rigorous academic foundation. She holds a Master of Public Policy and Management, a Bachelor of Arts (Media Communications and Cultural Studies), and a Diploma of Arts (Political Science) from the University of Melbourne—graduating with First-Class Honours across all disciplines. She completed The Campaign School at Yale University (formerly the Women’s Campaign School) in 2012 and Public Sector Management from Melbourne Polytechnic in 2021.

Her academic excellence has been widely recognised. She is a recipient of the University of Melbourne’s Global Mobility Scholarship and Exhibition Prize for First Year Political Science, and the Federal Government’s Australian Students Prize.

Stacey is professionally accredited by Interpretation Australia.

Complementing her tertiary studies, Stacey is a graduate of the prestigious Campaign School at Yale University, a selective program specialising in political leadership and strategic communications. She has also completed the Course in Public Sector Management at Melbourne Polytechnic, ensuring her advice is grounded in current governance standards.

Passionate about the visual and cultural narratives of place, Stacey bridges her policy expertise with a dedicated creative practice. She is currently undertaking a Diploma of Visual Arts, building on previous training at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. She volunteers this knowledge back to the community through her service on local consultative groups, including advising on public art commissions that celebrate cultural heritage and migration stories.
