In 2019, the Burra Charter turns 40! As part of our acknowledgement of this significant landmark, Australia ICOMOS hosted panel discussions to celebrate and reflect on the document’s success and evolution, and to consider its capacity to respond to an evolving heritage landscape. Does the Burra Charter address all of the issues relevant to contemporary heritage practice?

The first of the discussion panels took place at the University of Melbourne on 27 June 2019. The format, based on the ABC’s ‘Q and A’ show, saw a panel of four speakers respond to questions from the audience, with the discussion chaired by a moderator.

The audio from this event has been recorded and is now available for download (total time 1 hr 15 mins).

Australia ICOMOS extends its thanks to Professor Philip Goad and the panelists, Helen Lardner, Meg Goulding, Dr James Lesh and Emeritus Prof Miles Lewis.
